SPORTUNION Kärnten was selected as the next organizer of the FICEP-FISEC Summer Games 2022 in Klagenfurt
Klagenfurt, the provincial capital of Carinthia/Austria, will be the host for another major sports event in the region in July 2022: the FICEP-FISEC Summer Games. The President of FISEC, Lies Janssen, and the President of FICEP, Gerhard Hauer, handed over the symbolic flag of the games to Ulrich Zafoschnig, President of SPORTUNION Kärnten, last weekend in Madrid. SPORTUNION Kärnten will be responsible for the organization of the entire event.

The FICEP-FISEC Summer Games can be compared to Olympic Games for young athletes, who have to yet been nominated for their national squads, but nevertheless are among the best athletes of their countries. SPORTUNION Kärnten expects about 700-800 participants at the age of 14-16 years from 16 different nations. The schedule includes athletics, swimming, table tennis, tennis, archery, basketball, handball, volleyball, soccer, and futsal. The competitions will mostly take place in different venues in Klagenfurt, among these presumably the Sportpark Klagenfurt.

Thus, I highly appreciate, that SPORTUNION Kärnten was selected as host and organizer of the FICEP-FISEC Summer Games 2022 in Klagenfurt!”, said Ulrich Zafoschnig, President of SPORTUNION Kärnten. The FICEP-FISEC Summer Games 2022 are a great opportunity, especially for young athletes, who will get the chance to compete with other young people under the conditions of a major international sports event. Furthermore, the FICEP-FISEC Summer Games 2022 entail various benefits for the city of Klagenfurt as well as for the region of Carinthia and its reputation as popular destination for tourists and athletes from all over the world. Two years ago, the FICEP-FISEC Summer Games 2022 were supposed to take place in Duisburg/Germany. The event, however, had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, the FICEP-FISEC Summer Games 2022 in Klagenfurt will follow the slogan „Come back stronger“.
